Alright folks, back again with my April 2015 Virgo career experiment. Was bored that Monday morning scrolling through junk emails when this horoscope headline popped up. Figured why not? Coffee cup halfway to my mouth, I opened it expecting vague fluff.
First Step: Printing That Thing Out
Actually dragged my lazy butt to the printer. Highlighted stuff about “mid-month communication opportunities” and “financial caution around the 22nd” with that crusty yellow marker I stole from the supply closet. Taped it right next to my monitor at work so Todd from accounting kept giving me weird looks.
The Actual Planning Part
Dug out my ancient paper planner (yeah I’m that old school). Every Sunday night that month I forced myself to:
- Circle potential “opportunity days” – Made extra notes to follow up on loose email threads around April 15-17 like the horoscope said
- Block budget review time – Literally wrote “$$DONT SPEND$$” in red pen for week of April 20th after reading the warning
- Schedule decompression days – The horoscope rambled about stress so I threw in two mandatory early leave Wednesdays
How It Played Out
Okay weirdest part? Around April 16th my manager suddenly asks if I wanna join this cross-department project. Would’ve normally dodged it but remembered that yellow highlighted “communication opportunity” section. Said yes feeling like a horoscope puppet. Spent three whole days nervously watching company card expenses before the 22nd – turns out the printer maintenance invoice dropped that exact afternoon. Almost cried when it matched my red $$DONT SPEND$$ block.
End of Month Real Talk
Finished April feeling like I’d hacked some secret cheat code. That random project got me face time with directors, and dodging unnecessary purchases balanced my budget. Still think horoscopes are 90% nonsense but having some external structure forced me to actually plan instead of drowning in emails. Would I do it again? Maybe if Mercury’s in retrograde or whatever. Mostly proved I function better with scribbled threats on paper.
