So, I decided to try out this penny dreadful tarot card deck. First off, I got the deck in the mail. I remember opening the package, and it felt kind of exciting, like I was about to start a new adventure.
I took the cards out of the box. They were all shuffled up already, but I thought I’d give them a good shuffle myself. I started shuffling them like I’ve seen in movies, kind of clumsily at first. I was holding the cards in my hands, and it felt a bit strange, like these cards had some kind of power.
Then, I sat down at my table. I wanted to do a simple three – card spread, which I read was good for beginners. I laid the cards out one by one. I was looking at the pictures on the cards, and they were really detailed and a bit spooky, just like you’d expect from a penny dreadful deck.
I started trying to figure out what each card meant. I had this little guidebook that came with the deck, but it was kind of hard to understand at first. I was scratching my head, trying to match the pictures on the cards with the descriptions in the book. For example, one card had a skeleton on it, and the book said it could mean change or an end of something. I was thinking, “Well, what the heck does that mean for me right now?”
I kept going through the cards, trying to piece together a story. It was like putting together a puzzle, but with a lot of guesswork. I was talking to myself, “Okay, this first card might be about my past, this second one about my present, and this third one about my future.”
After I thought I had an idea of what the cards were telling me, I sat back and thought about it. It was kind of cool to think that these cards might be giving me some insights. But then again, I also knew it could just be my own imagination running wild.
Overall, using the penny dreadful tarot card deck was a fun experience. It was a bit confusing at first, but it got more interesting as I went along. I think I’ll definitely do it again, maybe even try a different spread next time. And who knows, maybe I’ll start to understand these cards better with more practice!
