My Virgo Work Wins Journey
Alright so last December I decided to actually try following that Virgo career horoscope for once. Honestly I was feeling stuck at my job like a hamster on a wheel – same boring tasks every day. The horoscope said December 4-10 and 18-24 were magic weeks for big career moves.
First thing I did was dig out my dusty notebook on Monday morning December 4th. I wrote down three work goals I’d been avoiding forever:
- Ask for that design lead position everyone knows is opening up
- Finally start writing my project management certification exam study notes
- Network with at least two department heads this month
Next day I straight up marched into my boss’s office before I could chicken out. Just blurted out “I want that team lead spot” while my palms were sweating buckets. He looked surprised but said “Okay show me why you deserve it by Friday” which was totally fair.
Spent that whole week working like a maniac:
- Redid three old project reports to show improvement ideas
- Stayed late Tuesday fixing that spreadshseet mess everyone avoids
- Organized a stupidly productive team meeting Wednesday where we killed two blockers
By December 8th my boss called me in and guess what? Got the promotion! Horoscope was already 1 for 1 at this point.
The second “lucky week” starting December 18th I tackled my exam notes first. Turned off all notifications, brewed disgusting amounts of coffee, and just sat at my kitchen table every evening writing bullet points until my hand cramped. Made flashcards for all the boring policy stuff – total nerd mode.
Then came the networking part I always hated. On the 21st I straight up invited our analytics director for coffee with zero plan. Just talked shop about workflow problems for 20 minutes – surprisingly chill! Did the same with UX head next day over Zoom since she worked remote.
End results by Christmas break?
- Promotion paperwork signed December 22
- Cleared first two certification exam modules
- Both directors actually remembered my name at the holiday party
Look I’m still not convinced about star signs deciding my fate. But having those dates circled pushed me to finally do stuff I’d put off forever. Funny how just picking deadlines can make things happen!
