- Planning obsession – calendars, spreadsheets for weekend plans
- Worry spirals – freaking out over weather reports
But this felt like throwing darts blindfolded. Needed structure, so I searched astrology sites and downloaded these ancient-looking PDFs about zodiac signs.
Phase 2: Pattern Hunting With Coffee
Next Saturday, I parked myself in Starbucks with a triple espresso and color-coded highlighters. Went through Virgo traits section by section while comparing notes on Dave:
- Red highlighter = perfectionism disasters (when he reorganized my bookshelf by publishing date)
- Yellow = overthinking meltdowns (stress buying disinfectants before my birthday party)
- Green = criticism chaos (commenting on my lawn-mowing patterns)
This took three caffeine-fueled hours but finally the patterns jumped out hard. Realized these “negative” traits actually chain together – perfectionism breeds criticism breeds anxiety.
The Lightbulb Moment
Went to Dave’s place Sunday and just watched him make coffee. Took exactly 4 minutes 37 seconds – timed it. He measured grounds, wiped drips, checked water temperature. When I said “chill, it’s just coffee man”, he shrugged: “If something’s worth doing, do it properly.”
That’s when it clicked – the perceived weaknesses are literally flip sides of Virgo superpowers. Hyper-attention to detail becomes perfectionism. Analytical skills turn into criticism. Planning abilities morph into anxiety.
So yeah, Dave’s still annoying about movie facts. But after seeing how his mind operates? You kinda gotta respect the wiring. Don’t hate the player, hate the zodiac game.
