Why I started with tarot cards for lucid dreams
Last Tuesday night, I kept waking up frustrated. Been trying lucid dreaming for weeks but kept losing control whenever I realized I was dreaming. So Wednesday morning, I dumped my coffee and grabbed my dusty tarot deck instead. Figured if normal methods weren’t working, maybe symbols could shake things up.
How I prepped the cards
Flipped through my dream journal first – scribbles about flying but crashing, teeth falling out, you know the weird stuff. Then shuffled those cards HARD on my kitchen counter, focusing on one question: “What stops my lucid dreams?” Pulled five cards face down without overthinking it.
The top 5 cards I pulled & what they screamed at me
- The Tower (upside down): Told me I was forcing control too much. Like death-gripping the steering wheel in the dream. Needs to chill.
- Two of Cups: Straight up said “Stop ignoring dream characters!” I’d been avoiding them instead of asking “Are we dreaming?”
- Seven of Swords: Called me out for sneaking doubt in. I’d think “this feels real…” then BAM – awake.
- The Moon: Laughed at my crappy reality checks. Told me to actually question weird stuff instead of ignoring gut feelings.
- Ace of Wands: Basically yelled “USE YOUR DAMN HANDS IN DREAMS!” Hadn’t realized I never touched stuff to test fakeness.
What happened when I tried it
Same night, dreamt I was eating pancakes. Remembered Moon card telling me “Dude, since when does IHOP have talking syrup bottles?” Rubbed my hands together like Ace of Wands said – fingers melted through each other. Instantly lucid! Didn’t last long but first time I didn’t freak out. Even high-fived the syrup bottle.
My stupid-simple cheat sheet now
Taped those five cards above my bed. Before sleep I just scan ’em and mumble:
- Don’t force (Tower)
- Chat with dream people (Cups)
- Kill doubt (Swords)
- Question weird crap (Moon)
- TOUCH THINGS (Wands)
Works better than any app I’ve bought. Still mess up sometimes but now I know which card I forgot to follow.
