At the beginning of 2014, I was in a bit of a slump at work. I was constantly stressed out, and promotions seemed like a distant dream. One day, out of curiosity, I decided to check the weekly Virgo career horoscope. I thought, “Hey, it can’t hurt to give it a shot, right?”
So, every Monday morning, I’d rush to my computer and look up the Virgo career horoscope for that week. The horoscope would give me some general advice, like “be more assertive in meetings” or “network with colleagues outside of work.”
I started to follow these suggestions. In meetings, I’d raise my hand more often and share my ideas. I even joined a few after – work networking events. It was kind of awkward at first, but I forced myself to talk to people. I remember one time, I was so nervous at a networking event that I spilled my coffee on my shirt. But I still managed to strike up a conversation with a senior manager.
As the weeks went by, I started to notice some changes. My colleagues seemed to pay more attention to me in meetings, and I got a few compliments on my work. I even landed a small project that I was really excited about.
After a few months, I got a performance review. My boss said I had shown great improvement in my communication and teamwork skills. And to my surprise, I was given a small raise. I couldn’t believe it! I started to wonder if the weekly horoscope had actually played a part in boosting my job luck.
But then, I also realized that it wasn’t just the horoscope. The actions I took based on the advice were what really made a difference. The horoscope was just a little push, a reminder to step out of my comfort zone.
By the end of 2014, I had gone from being a stressed – out employee to someone who was confident and well – regarded at work. Whether it was the power of the horoscope or my own efforts, I’m not entirely sure. But one thing’s for sure, following the Virgo career horoscope in 2014 was an interesting experiment that led to some positive changes in my job.
