Starting Fresh With Tarot
So I dug out my trusty Rider-Waite deck this morning feeling all bleary-eyed. Made myself some peppermint tea first thing – gotta have that ritual vibe, you know? Cleared off the coffee table where I spilled crumbs yesterday and laid down my favorite purple scarf as a spread cloth.
Setting My Intentions
Held the cards to my chest while thinking “Alright 2025, whatchu got for me?” Really focused on my business goals and that garden project I’ve been putting off. Shuffled till three cards jumped out – I always take those as important. Then properly shuffled seven times before cutting the deck into three piles with my left hand.
The Five-Card Layout
Placed them clockwise like this:
- Bottom left for “What to release from 2024”
- Top left for “Focus for 2025”
- Top right for “Hidden opportunities”
- Bottom right for “Possible obstacles”
- Big one in the center for “Overall theme”
Drew each card real slow, letting my gut react first before checking meanings.
Card Reactions
Nearly choked on my tea when that Tower card showed up for “What to release.” Yeah okay universe, I get it – gotta stop clinging to that toxic client relationship. The Empress for “2025 Focus” made me grin though! Perfect for finally launching my wellness retreat idea.
Seven of Pentacles popped up as an obstacle? Ugh fine, guess I’ll actually need a business plan instead of winging it. When Strength landed in the center position for my yearly theme, I did a little happy dance. That lion’s been my spirit animal since forever!
Putting It Together
Scratched down notes in my battered journal with the good pen. Realized all the earth pentacles showing up meant I should finally invest in proper garden tools instead of that dollar store junk. Made three bullet points for immediate action items:
- Fire that nightmare client by January 15th
- Price out greenhouse kits this weekend
- Stop calling it “laziness” when I need rest days
Wrapping Up
Took a quick phone pic of the spread before gathering the cards. Notice how all the major arcana popped up? That’s when I know the universe’s really yelling instead of whispering. Gave the deck a little thank-you tap before tucking it back in its silk wrap. Feeling way clearer about 2025 now – and didn’t even need to consult three different guidebooks this time!
