Back in 2014, as a Virgo in the workplace, I was facing a ton of work – related stress. I was like a spinning top, constantly going around with no end in sight.
At first, I just kept pushing myself, working long hours, and trying to get every single task done. I’d wake up early, rush to the office, and start answering emails, attending meetings, and dealing with all sorts of projects. But as time went on, I started to feel exhausted. My productivity was dropping, and I was getting more and more irritable.
I realized I had to do something. So, I began to make some changes. I started by making a to – do list every morning. This helped me organize my tasks better. I’d prioritize the most important ones and break them down into smaller steps. It was like building a big tower brick by brick.
Then, I decided to take short breaks during the day. Instead of sitting at my desk all the time, I’d get up and walk around for a few minutes every hour. Sometimes, I’d go to the pantry and grab a snack or have a quick chat with my colleagues. These little breaks really helped me relax and recharge.
I also started to practice time management. I set specific time limits for each task. For example, I’d give myself an hour to finish a report. This way, I was more focused and less likely to waste time on unimportant things.
Another thing I did was to talk to my boss. I told him about the heavy workload and the stress I was feeling. He was actually quite understanding and helped me redistribute some of the tasks. It was a huge relief.
As I kept doing these things, I gradually noticed a change. I was handling work – related stress much better. My productivity went up, and I was in a better mood at work. I even had more energy to spend time with my family and friends after work.
Looking back, I think the key to handling work – related stress is to be proactive. Don’t just let the stress pile up. Take action, make changes, and find what works for you. Everyone’s situation is different, but by trying different methods, you can definitely find a way to manage stress and enjoy your work life.
