Back in 2016, I was super curious about my career as a Virgo. I thought, “Hey, let’s check out that career forecast and see what’s up!”
First off, I started by doing some online research. I typed in all sorts of keywords like “Virgo 2016 career forecast” on search engines. I clicked through tons of websites, reading all those different predictions. Some said I’d have a great year with lots of opportunities, while others were a bit more cautious.
Then, I decided to follow the first tip I found. It said to network more. So, I started going to industry events. I remember one event was so boring at first. I was just standing there, sipping my coffee, feeling awkward. But then I forced myself to go up to people and start chatting. I shook hands with a bunch of strangers, asked them about their jobs, and shared a bit about mine. It was nerve – wracking at first, but I managed to exchange business cards with a few folks.
The second tip was to learn new skills. I signed up for an online course related to my field. There were so many videos to watch and assignments to do. Sometimes I just wanted to quit because it was hard and time – consuming. But I pushed myself through it. I spent evenings and weekends sitting in front of my laptop, taking notes, and doing practical exercises. By the end of the course, I felt like I’d leveled up a bit.
The third tip was to set clear goals. I sat down with a pen and paper and wrote down what I wanted to achieve in my career that year. I made both short – term and long – term goals. For example, I wanted to get a small project done in the next three months and get a promotion by the end of the year. I put that paper on my desk so I could see it every day and remind myself what I was working towards.
As the year went on, I could actually see some changes. Those new contacts I made at the events started to pay off. One of them recommended me for a small project, which led to more visibility in the company. The skills I learned from the course helped me do my job better and faster. And having those goals in mind kept me focused and motivated.
By the end of 2016, I did achieve some of my career goals. I didn’t get that big promotion, but I got a nice raise and was given more responsibilities. Looking back, those three tips really did help boost my career, and I’m glad I gave them a try!
