Alright so I finally got around to properly cleansing my tarot cards today. I’ve been meaning to do it for a while because they just felt a little heavy, you know? Like they needed a refresh. I followed my own simple five-step guide and it was actually really relaxing.
Gathering My Stuff
First thing I did was clear off my little desk. I grabbed my main deck, the one I use most often. Then I got a few things together: a white candle, some dried sage I had left over, a small bowl of salt, and a clear quartz crystal. Nothing fancy, just what I had on hand.
Setting the Mood
I lit the candle first. I always feel like that helps me focus. Then I lit the sage and let it smoke for a minute. I waved the deck through the smoke a few times, making sure the smoke touched the box and all sides. It smelled really good, kind of earthy and clean.

The Main Event
After the smoke, I took all the cards out of the box. I held them in my hands and just thought about clearing out any old, stuck energy. I wasn’t thinking about any specific readings, just about making them neutral again. Then I put the deck right next to the bowl of salt and left it there for about ten minutes. I’ve heard salt is great for absorbing stuff.
Wrapping Up
While the cards were sitting with the salt, I held the clear quartz and set a little intention for it to help keep the cards clear. After ten minutes, I picked the deck up, gave it a good shuffle—like, a really thorough one—and then I wrapped it up in a soft black cloth I use just for them.
How Do They Feel Now?
I just did a quick one-card pull to test the vibe. The card felt… lighter? Sharper? It’s hard to explain, but it definitely feels better. The whole process was super easy and didn’t take more than twenty minutes. I think I’ll make a habit of doing this every month or so.
