So I got this idea last weekend when I was cleaning out my craft drawer and found a bunch of old cardstock and some clear packing tape. I thought, why not try to make my own tarot card stickers? I’ve always loved the artwork but buying a whole deck just for the stickers seemed like a waste. Here’s exactly what I did.
Gathering My Stuff
First thing, I had to see what I already had. I found the cardstock, the clear tape, a pair of scissors, and a glue stick. I knew I needed images, so I just searched online for “tarot card images” and picked a few of my favorites, like The Fool and The Moon. I printed them out on regular printer paper. Nothing fancy.
The Cutting and Sticking Part
This part was a bit fiddly. I carefully cut out each tarot image with the scissors. Then, I took a piece of the clear packing tape and stuck it right over the front of the paper image. I smoothed it out with my fingers to get rid of any bubbles. After that, I flipped it over and put a good amount of glue from the glue stick on the back. I pressed it onto the piece of cardstock to make it sturdier and waited a few minutes for it to dry.

Making Them Into Actual Stickers
Once the glued pieces were dry, I cut them out again, this time leaving a small border of the cardstock around the image. Now for the real sticker part. I took another piece of clear packing tape and covered the back of the cardstock. So now, the paper tarot image is sandwiched between two layers of tape. I smoothed this side out too and then cut around the image one last time.

What I learned the hard way:
- Don’t use too much glue or it gets lumpy under the tape.
- Really smooth the tape down, or you get wrinkles that look bad.
- Regular paper is kinda thin, the cardstock made them much better.
How It Turned Out
They’re not perfect, I’ll be honest. The edges are a little rough and you can see the tape layers if you look really close. But they stick to my notebook and laptop just fine! They have a cool glossy look from the tape. It was a super cheap and easy project for a lazy afternoon. I’m definitely going to make more with different designs.
