Well, I remember when I first got into tarot cards, I was super confused about reading card combinations. But I was really into it, so I started my journey to figure it out.

I was like, “Okay, what do these two mean together?” I went back to the booklet and tried to piece together the meanings. The Magician is about taking action and using your skills, and The High Priestess is about intuition and hidden knowledge. So I thought, maybe it meant using my intuition to take action. But I wasn’t sure if I was right.
I knew I needed more help, so I started watching YouTube videos. There were these tarot experts on there, and they were showing how to read card combinations. I took notes like a crazy person, writing down all their tips and tricks. One of the things I learned was to look at the colors and symbols on the cards. For example, if two cards had a lot of red in them, it might mean passion or energy.
I also joined a tarot – reading group on Facebook. People in there were sharing their experiences and asking questions. I posted my two – card combination and got all sorts of different interpretations. Some people agreed with me, and some had completely different ideas. It was really interesting to see how different people saw the same cards.
As I got more confident, I started trying three – card combinations. This was a whole new level of complexity. I remember one time I pulled The Fool, The Lovers, and The Star. I was scratching my head, thinking, “How do these three fit together?” I used the tips I learned from the videos and the group. I thought The Fool represented new beginnings, The Lovers was about choices in relationships, and The Star was about hope and inspiration. So I guessed it meant starting a new relationship with hope and making important choices.
After a few months of practice, I came up with my own five tips for beginners. First, start with small combinations. Don’t jump right into five – or six – card spreads. Two – or three – card combos are much easier to handle. Second, use the booklet that comes with your deck. It’s a great starting point for understanding the basic meanings of the cards. Third, watch experts on YouTube. They have a lot of experience and can give you some really good insights. Fourth, join a community. You can learn from other people’s interpretations and get different perspectives. And fifth, trust your intuition. At the end of the day, your own gut feeling about the cards is really important.
Now, I’m still not a master at reading tarot card combinations, but I’ve come a long way from that confused beginner. Every time I pull a new combination, it’s like a little puzzle, and I enjoy trying to solve it. And I hope these tips can help other beginners like I was!
