So I got this Oak Ash Thorn Tarot deck last Tuesday after hearing people rave about its nature themes. Honestly felt kinda intimidated by those fancy illustrations at first, but hey, gotta start somewhere right?
First Step: Just Hold The Cards
I took the deck outta its box and just held it in my hands for like 5 minutes. Felt rough and earthy – totally different from those slippery plastic decks! Flipped through every single card while sitting on my porch, noticing all the trees and animals drawn on ’em. Kinda calmed me down actually.
Messy Shuffling Practice
Attempted shuffling but dropped cards everywhere twice. Third time I just split the deck into three piles like the instructions said. Mixed ’em up while thinking about my question: “Should I take that part-time gardening gig?” Felt clumsy but whatever.

Did the simplest three-card pull everyone recommends:
- Card 1: Past situation (drew Oak Leaf reversed)
- Card 2: Present energy (got Thorn Bush upright)
- Card 3: Future possibility (Ash Tree sideways)
Google-Fu Interpretation Time
Checked the little guidebook first – confusing as hell with all those symbols. Ended up combining it with this PDF cheat sheet I found:
- Reversed Oak Leaf: Stuck energy from past commitments
- Upright Thorn Bush: Need protection while trying new paths
- Sideways Ash Tree: Long-term rewards BUT slow growth
My Hilarious Conclusion
Basically it screamed: “Yes take the job but don’t quit your day job yet dummy!” The Thorn Bush card really nailed how nervous I felt about the interview. Still don’t know if I’m “reading” right but I wrote everything in my practice journal with those sticky leaf bookmarks. Gonna try this again tomorrow!
