So today I decided to actually figure out what these Dragon Tarot cards mean. Been sitting on my shelf looking all mysterious, collecting dust honestly. Grabbed the deck, big bulky box, felt kinda fancy. Opened it up – wow, way more cards than I remembered! Like, seventy-eight dragons staring back? Felt a bit overwhelming straight away.
Diving In Headfirst (Messy)
Didn’t even bother reading any instructions at first. Yeah, maybe shouldn’t have done that. Just pulled three cards randomly. Looked at the pictures: one had a dragon wrapped around this tower getting hit by lightning, another showed a dragon holding cups under rainbows, the last one had a dragon guarding what looked like swords crossed over a crown? Pure confusion.
- The Tower: Okay, looks scary. Lightning, falling people… is this like doom? Bad news?
- Seven of Cups: Rainbow dragon with cups… choices maybe? Daydreaming? Total guess.
- King of Swords: Stern dragon with swords… gotta be logic or something bossy? Not sure.
Couldn’t connect them at all. Was trying to guess a simple question about my day, and just got nonsense. Got lazy then, threw the three cards back into the pile.

Actually Opening the Dang Booklet
Okay, forced myself later. Dug out the little white booklet buried in the box. Tiny print, super dense meanings for each card. Started skimming. The Tower? Not just doom – it was about sudden change, shaking things up, maybe not pleasant but necessary. Whoa. Different! Seven of Cups? Illusions, too many choices, maybe fantasies messing you up. Felt way more accurate suddenly. King of Swords? Clear thinking, authority, someone cutting through the crap. Made so much more sense.
Felt kinda dumb for not just reading it first. Was trying to be all intuitive, but honestly, how can you be intuitive without knowing the basic language?
Slow and Steady Wins the Race (Maybe)
Picked five cards after reading up a bit. Wrote down each card name on paper. Opened the booklet for each one this time. Read the keyword meaning slowly. Knight of Wands? Like impulsive energy, rushing around. Ten of Pentacles? Security, family stuff going well. The Fool? New beginnings, kind of innocent stepping off a cliff. Page of Cups? Creative ideas, maybe a message about feelings. The Devil? Feeling chained, stuck in bad patterns or temptations.
Sat with them spread out. Looked at the pictures again, now knowing the basic meanings. Started seeing patterns: the Fool looking at the Devil like “uh oh”, the Knight charging past the calm Ten… felt like it was talking about rushing into something new (Fool, Knight) maybe ignoring good things (Ten) and getting tangled in old crap (Devil), but that Page of Cups offered a creative way out? It clicked way better.
What Actually Helps Right Now
My big takeaway? Can’t wing it with weird symbols you don’t know. Simple stuff I’m forcing myself to do:
- Read the booklet meaning every single time I pull a card. No skipping.
- Jot down keywords right away – stops me forgetting instantly.
- Start SMALL. One card in the morning is way better than three messy ones. Feeling less pressure.
- Look at the picture AFTER knowing the basic meaning. Then the details start making sense.
Still totally new at this, and some dragons still look confusing as heck. But it’s finally feeling less like staring at ancient graffiti and more like trying to learn a strange, cool new language. Baby steps with the book open. One dragon card meaning at a time.
