At the beginning of April 2020, as a Virgo in my career, I was really eager for a promotion. I started by setting clear goals. I sat down at my desk, took out a pen and paper, and jotted down what I wanted to achieve in my job within the month.
I then began to analyze my current situation. I looked at my past work performance, checked out what tasks I did well and which ones needed improvement. I talked to my colleagues, asked them about their opinions on my work. I even had a little chat with my boss, trying to figure out what he expected from me.
After that, I focused on enhancing my skills. I signed up for an online course related to my field. Every night after work, I’d sit in front of my computer, watching those video lessons, taking notes like a good student. I also practiced what I learned in my daily work, trying to apply new knowledge to solve problems.
Networking was another important step. I joined some industry – related groups on social media. I actively participated in discussions, shared my own ideas, and also learned from others. I even attended a few virtual industry events, where I got to know some big shots in the field. I exchanged business cards (well, virtual ones) with them and kept in touch.
I also made sure to showcase my work. I created a portfolio of my best projects, highlighting my contributions and achievements. I presented it to my boss during our one – on – one meetings, showing him what I was capable of.
As the month went by, I kept working hard, following these steps. And guess what? By the end of April, I got the promotion I wanted. It wasn’t easy, but all those efforts really paid off. It just goes to show that if you set your mind to it and take the right steps, you can achieve your career goals.
