So I was scrolling through my feed yesterday feeling kinda stuck about work stuff. My brain kept going circles around this promotion opportunity vs jumping ship to a new company. Then bam! The Virgo September 2024 horoscope pops up. Normally I’d ignore that crap but figured why not.
The Mercury Retrograde Wakeup Call
First thing that hit me was that Mercury’s doing its backwards dance through my career zone all freaking month. The horoscope said don’t sign contracts before September 18th. Glad I checked because I almost emailed that job offer yesterday! Grabbed my notebook and scribbled “HOLD ALL DECISIONS TILL 18th” in giant letters.
My 3-Step Plan of Attack
Here’s what I actually did with that astrology advice:
- Dug out old performance reviews from my desk pile
- Made two stupid simple lists: “Current Job Pros/Cons” and “New Job What-Ifs”
- Set calendar reminders for September 19-24 with “DECISION TIME” in all caps
The lists got real ugly real fast. My current job has great teammates but the pay sucks. New gig offers crazy money but wants 60-hour weeks. Felt like my head would explode.
The Weird Gut Feeling Moment
Last Tuesday I’m doomscrolling job boards when my stomach does this rollercoaster drop. Remembered the horoscope saying Virgos should “trust physical instincts” this month. Put the laptop away and went for a walk. Halfway around the block it hits me – I’d miss our dumb office traditions like Taco Tuesday battles. Didn’t solve anything but damn that gut reaction was strong.
Where I’m At Now
Still haven’t decided squat. Mercury goes direct on the 18th so I blocked my calendar for the 19th to finally choose. The lists help but honestly? That taco memory’s sticking harder than any pro/con column. Maybe the stars were right about listening to my body. Or maybe I just really want guacamole. We’ll see what happens after the 18th.
