Starting the Experiment
Okay, so last week I grabbed coffee with my buddy Dave, who’s super into astrology. He kept going on about Virgos needing to watch out for August, saying stuff like Mercury retrograde was gonna mess with communications and Neptune might make things foggy. Honestly? I usually think this stuff is kind of hokey. I’m more of a “make your own luck” guy. But Dave was so fired up, I thought, why not? Let’s actually track this. See if any of this horoscope junk has legs. Call it a month-long experiment for the blog.
How I Set It Up
First, I printed out that Virgo August prediction from a big site. You know the kind – full of dramatic warnings and vague promises. Typical stuff like:
- Careful with money around the 7th, Virgo! Unexpected costs?
- Misunderstandings likely after the 15th thanks to Mercury. Watch your emails!
- Feeling drained mid-month? Neptune’s influence. Rest is key.
- Old friend might pop up near the 23rd. Unexpected connections!
Totally generic, right? I stuck it on my fridge with a magnet. Every night before bed, I’d grab my notebook – just a cheap spiral thing – and jot down two things:
- Any weird stuff that happened that day: bad tech, money surprise, argument, random text.
- How I felt: tired, confused, super productive, whatever.
Real simple. No fancy apps, just pen and paper. Wanted it as raw as possible.
Letting the Month Roll
First week? Nothing. Nada. Zilch. I was smug, thinking “See? Told you.” Paid my bills, everything normal. Laughed at the prediction stuck on the fridge.
Then, boom. August 6th. My stupid car’s check engine light comes on. Garage hits me with a bill way bigger than I expected on the 7th. Felt kinda spooked when I looked at the fridge prediction later that night: Careful with money around the 7th. Okay… coincidence? Maybe?
Kept logging. Around the 12th, started feeling just… wiped out. Like dragging myself through mud. Checked the prediction: Neptune blah blah, rest is key whatever. Made an effort to sleep earlier. Honestly, wasn’t sure if it was Neptune or just the stress from the car bill!
Now, the mid-month Mercury stuff. Around the 17th, I shot a quick, kinda snarky email back to a client who was being super vague about what they wanted. Totally misunderstood me. We spent two whole days going back and forth via email clarifying simple points. It was a mess. Textbook communication breakdown. Later that week, saw the note about misunderstandings after the 15th. Felt a chill. Could easily dismiss the money thing, but two things?
Last week was the kicker. August 21st, sitting on my porch after work. Phone buzzes. It’s Sarah! Haven’t heard from her since college graduation, like a decade ago. Random text: “Hey! Saw your profile picture pop up somewhere, made me think of you! How’s life?” Blew my mind. Literally out of the blue. Checked the prediction later: Old friend might pop up near the 23rd. The 21st is near the 23rd. That sealed it for me.
The Weird Feeling After
So here I am, end of August. Flipping through my notebook. The weird stuff? Dude, it kinda lined up. Money trouble? Hit early. Feeling drained? Yep. Email disaster? Check. Random old friend popping in? Absolutely.
Am I suddenly an astrology convert? Nah, not really. Still think a lot of it is vague enough that you can read into it whatever you want. But… this month, for me, a total skeptic? Too many damn coincidences.
Would I plan my life around it? Hell no. But maybe, just maybe, glancing at the Virgo monthly forecast gave me a tiny heads-up on vibes I might feel or unexpected things that could land. Like checking the weather before a picnic – you know it might be wrong, but you glance anyway. Wild month, honestly.
