Virgo Monthly October 2021?

Posted on 30/12/202530/12/2025 Celeste Dawn By Celeste Dawn

Man, October 2021, huh? That was a time. I gotta tell you, my life then felt like a tangled ball of yarn. Bills piling up, appointments slipping my mind, and my personal finances? Don’t even get me started. Everything was just… chaotic. And me, being the type who likes things neat and tidy, it was really grinding my gears. So, one day, I just snapped. I decided enough was enough. I needed a system. Not some fancy app or a super complex program, just something simple, something I could actually stick with, that would pull my life out of the digital dumpster fire it had become.

My brain, you know, it just craved order, but my reality was anything but. I figured the best way to tackle it was to build my own little command center, a personal life tracker. My goals were pretty straightforward: stop missing bill payments, keep on top of my endless to-do list, and for the love of all that’s holy, actually see where my money was going. I wasn’t looking for a miracle, just some clarity.

I didn’t reach for anything complicated. Nope. I opened up a fresh Google Sheet. Free, accessible everywhere, and I already knew my way around it. It felt like the perfect, low-tech weapon against my high-stress life.

Virgo Monthly October 2021?

Setting the Stage: What to Track?

I grabbed my coffee, sat down, and just dumped everything that was swimming in my head onto a notepad. What were the absolute must-haves for this tracker? I scribbled down a bunch of stuff:

  • All my bills, with their due dates.
  • Those pesky personal tasks that I kept putting off or forgetting entirely.
  • A simple way to log my everyday spending.
  • And maybe, just maybe, a small section to keep tabs on some new habits I wanted to pick up.

The key was keeping it super basic. No frills. So, I carved out separate tabs in my Google Sheet. One for ‘Bills’, one for ‘Tasks’, another for ‘Expenses’, and a final one for ‘Habits’. Boom. Structure. Finally.

The Grind: Filling It All Up

Okay, so that was the easy part. The actual heavy lifting started when I had to fill these sheets with my real-life mess. For the ‘Bills’ tab, I dove deep into my bank statements and email archives. It was a digital archaeological dig, seriously. I painstakingly listed every single recurring bill: internet, electricity, rent, streaming subscriptions, you name it. Each got its own row with ‘Due Date’, ‘Service’, ‘Amount’, a ‘Status’ (Paid/Unpaid), and a ‘Notes’ column for anything extra. I made sure those due dates were front and center, easy to spot.

Next up, ‘Tasks’. This was a brain dump, pure and simple. “Fix that creaky door,” “Call Aunt Carol back,” “Schedule car maintenance.” Every little thing. I slapped a ‘Due Date’ and a ‘Priority’ (High, Medium, Low) on each. No project management wizardry, just a straightforward list to clear my head.

The ‘Expenses’ tab? Oh boy, that was a real wake-up call. I committed to logging every single dollar I spent for a full month. Every coffee, every trip to the grocery store, every impulse online buy. I set up columns: ‘Date’, ‘Item’, ‘Category’ (like Food, Transport, Entertainment), and ‘Amount’. Honestly, it felt like a total drag at first. Pulling out my phone to record every little purchase was annoying. But I forced myself to do it. Stick with it, I told myself.

The ‘Habits’ tab was the chill one. I picked three simple habits: “Drink X glasses of water,” “Read for Y minutes,” and “Go for a walk.” I made rows for each, then columns for every day of the month. A quick ‘X’ marked if I did it. Super simple.

Smartening It Up: A Little Automation

Just having the data wasn’t enough. I needed to see what was happening without having to dig. This is where I got a bit clever with some basic spreadsheet tricks. For the ‘Bills’ tab, I threw in some conditional formatting. If a bill was due in the next week, that whole row turned yellow. If it was already past due? Bright red. No more surprises or missed payments. This alone was worth all the effort.

For ‘Expenses’, I taught myself how to wrangle `SUMIF` and a few simple formulas. I wanted to know exactly where my money was bleeding out. So, I created a small summary on the side that automatically totaled my spending for each category. Seeing cold hard numbers like “Food: $500” or “Entertainment: $300” really put things into perspective. It wasn’t always pretty to look at, but it was honest. No hiding from the truth.

The ‘Tasks’ tab, I kept super plain. Just sorted it by ‘Due Date’ and ‘Priority’. So, the most important stuff was always staring me in the face. When a task was done, I’d just manually mark it ‘Done’. Simple, effective.

The ‘Habits’ tab became a personal cheerleader. I could just glance and see my streaks – how many days in a row I actually drank enough water or read. It was surprisingly motivating, seeing those ‘X’s line up.

The Monthly Ritual: My October 2021 Review

I kicked this whole thing off in late September, so by October 2021, I was really getting into the swing of reviewing it every single month. That was the “Monthly Virgo” part, I guess. At the end of September, and then again when October wrapped up, I’d carve out some time to sit down and just look at everything. I’d go through all the bills, marking them paid or chasing down the ones I’d somehow missed. I’d add up all my expenses, category by category, and seriously question some of my spending choices. Then, I’d check in on my habits, seeing where I rocked it and where I totally fell off the wagon.

It was never perfect. Some months, my budget would completely blow up. Some days, my habits went right out the window. But the goal was never perfection. It was about awareness. Just knowing where everything stood, having it all laid out, gave me a massive sense of calm. I wasn’t constantly stressing about forgetting something crucial or wondering where my paycheck just disappeared to. That peace of mind? Priceless.

This whole process really changed my approach to keeping my life in order. It wasn’t about finding the most advanced app or the trendiest new tool; it was about building a system that actually worked for me, using the simple stuff I already had. It hammered home the lesson that sometimes, the simplest solutions are the best ones, and the act of actually doing the tracking is way more important than what fancy tech you use to do it. It wasn’t always a blast, but man, did it make a difference. Still running a version of it today, tweaked here and there over the years, keeps things humming along, mostly.
