So this Monday morning I grabbed my coffee like always, thought about checking Jessica Adams’ weekly Virgo forecast since I’m a Virgo myself. Figured it might give me some pointers for the week ahead. Pulled up the website on my phone while my toast popped up.
The Setup
Sat down at my messy kitchen table. Scrolled past ads until I found the Virgo section. Made a face – the intro bit always talks about Mercury this or Saturn that. Honestly? I mostly skip those parts. Went straight for the bullet points about what’s “new” this week. Jessica’s usually pretty direct.
Reading the Meat
The main thing jumping out was her saying “Stop juggling ten plates”. She wrote something like Virgos get caught trying to fix everything for everyone, and this week the big message was to put one plate down at least. Huh. Felt familiar. My boss dumped three new reports on me, my sister needed help moving furniture, and I had that dentist appointment I kept forgetting to book. Classic juggling.
- Point one: Identify ONE unnecessary task. Felt like homework.
- Point two: Communicate clearly you’re stepping back. Oof. Not my strong suit.
- Point three: Notice the relief when it’s done. Yeah, okay, that sounded nice.
My Actual Week Attempt
Tuesday at work, boss asked about the reports. Instead of saying “Yeah, no problem!” like always, I literally stopped myself. Pointed at the list of projects I already had open on my screen. Said, “I can get reports A and B done by Friday, but report C will need an extra week”. Held my breath. Boss blinked, said “Huh. Yeah, Friday for A and B is tight enough. Report C next week is fine”. Walked away thinking, “Holy crap, Jessica was right.” That was Plate #1 on the floor.
Wednesday, sister texted about the weekend move. Usually I’d just rearrange my entire Saturday. This time, I texted back: “Can help for 2 hours max Saturday morning?” She found another cousin to help the rest of the time. Plate #2 down. Didn’t feel guilty at all.
Thursday? Booked the dang dentist. One less thing floating in my head. Plate #3.
How it Felt
By Friday afternoon? Weirdly less stressed than a normal Friday. Didn’t magically win the lottery, but putting down those specific “plates” made the other spinning ones easier to manage. That “relief” point Jessica mentioned? Totally there. It wasn’t about doing nothing, it was about consciously choosing what not to do right now. Practical Virgo stuff, honestly. Might try this ‘putting plates down’ thing more often. Feels better than trying to catch them all before they smash.
