So, I grabbed that guidebook that came with the deck. It started by telling me that there are two main parts of a tarot deck: the Major Arcana and the Minor Arcana. The Major Arcana has 22 cards, and the Minor Arcana has 56 cards. That’s a total of 78 cards!
I started studying the Major Arcana first. These cards are like the big bosses of the tarot deck. They represent major life events and spiritual lessons. I read about each card, like The Fool, The Magician, and The High Priestess. Each card has a story and a meaning.
Next, I moved on to the Minor Arcana. This part is divided into four suits: Wands, Cups, Swords, and Pentacles. Each suit has 14 cards, just like a regular deck of playing cards. I learned that the Wands are about action and creativity, the Cups are about emotions and relationships, the Swords are about thoughts and challenges, and the Pentacles are about money and material things.
I spent days just looking at the cards, reading about them, and trying to remember their meanings. I even made little flashcards to help me study. And you know what? It was actually kind of fun!
After a while, I felt confident enough to do my first tarot reading. I shuffled the cards again, this time a bit more carefully. Then I drew three cards and laid them out in a simple spread. It was so cool to see how the cards seemed to tell a story about my life.
So, if you’re a beginner like me and want to understand the tarot deck order, my advice is to start with a good guidebook, take your time to study the cards, and don’t be afraid to just jump in and do a reading. It’s a wild ride, but it’s totally worth it!
