So I heard about these Pokemon tarot cards and got super curious, right? Gotta see what this is all about. Figured I’d share how my hunt went down.
Step 1: Assuming This Would Be Easy
Okay, my first thought was obvious: just run out and grab them. Seems simple enough. Headed straight to the big box stores.
- The Big T Store (You Know the One): Wandered over to the card section, scanned the shelves full of sports cards and Yugioh… nothing. Asked a guy working there, got a blank stare. “Pokemon tarot? Like… fortune telling with Pikachu?” Yeah, thanks buddy. No luck there either.
- That Big Book Chain: Figured they might have specialty stuff. Checked the game section – nada. Checked the board games section – zip. Even wandered near the weird hippie/wellness books just in case… still nothing. Zero sign of any tarot cards, Pokemon or otherwise.
Total bust. Guess this ain’t like picking up a Snickers bar after all.

Step 2: Turning to the Internet
Alright, time for Plan B. Opened up my laptop, pulled up the giant online marketplace everyone uses. Searched “pokemon tarot cards”. BAM! Stuff popped up. Okay, great!
But here’s the kicker:
- Some looked official and cool. Exactly what I pictured.
- Others looked… homemade? Like someone printed them on their inkjet.
- Way more sellers than I expected, all over the place.
Started clicking listings. Realized the official-looking ones? Sold out. Every. Single. One. Seriously? Checked seller after seller. “Currently unavailable.” Or prices way jacked up because someone knew they were rare.
Felt annoyed. How could everyone be sold out?
Step 3: Digging Deeper Online
Couldn’t give up. Searched again, added words like “in stock” and “available now”. Scrolled way, way down. Found a few smaller shops I’d never heard of.
- Tried one site: “Add to Cart”! YES! Filled my info, hit checkout… error message. Contacted them. “Sorry, website glitch, actually out of stock.” Grr.
- Tried another one. Claimed to have them. Added to cart again. Went through the whole checkout process again. Payment went through! Got hopeful… then got an email the next day. “Apologies, inventory error. Refund processed.” Are you kidding me?!
This was getting frustrating. Felt like chasing a ghost.
Step 4: Remembering the Little Guys
After striking out online, I thought back. Remembered a tiny, kinda quirky game shop way across town I’d only been to once before, but they had a bunch of niche stuff.
Called them up. Told the guy on the phone, “Hey, super random, but… any chance you have Pokemon tarot cards?” He paused… “Hold on.” I could hear rustling. Then, “Actually… yeah. Think we got one dusty box in the back. Didn’t even know we still had it.”
You better believe I hopped in my car immediately. Drove across town. Walked in. He handed me a slightly dented box. THE CARDS! Actual physical cards! Paid for them right there, felt like I’d won the lottery. WAY harder than I thought. Turns out, finding stuff in a real, old-school store sometimes beats clicking buttons all night.
