I discovered that my mountain dreams functioned as a workload stress gauge:
- If the mountain was steep but I was making progress, I was taking on challenging but manageable work.

It forced me to stop trying to rebuild the manufacturing business (which was the “impossible” climb) and to start re-focusing my skills into a completely new, lower-stakes field (which turned out to be copywriting, requiring no inventory and minimal risk).
I still dream of mountains sometimes. But now, when I wake up, I don’t reach for a book of symbols. I reach for my logbook, check the intensity, and immediately audit my priorities for the day.
