Workplace Tarot: Get Career Clarity Today!

Getting Unstuck: My Dive into Workplace Tarot

You know, for a long time, I was just kinda drifting along in my career. It wasn’t bad, I wasn’t miserable or anything, but I definitely wasn’t sparking joy, if you catch my drift. Every morning, I’d wake up, do the usual routine, head to work, and just do the job. My brain was running on autopilot, and my heart wasn’t really in it. I kept thinking, “Is this it? Is this all there is?” I’d look at other folks, seeming so passionate about their gigs, and I’d wonder what their secret was. I felt like I was standing at a crossroads, but all the signs were faded, and I couldn’t quite read ‘em.

I tried all the usual stuff. You know, talking to mentors, reading career books, even scribbling down pros and cons lists until my hand cramped. But nothing really clicked. It felt like I was just going through the motions, trying to logic my way out of something that felt more like a gut feeling. I needed something different, a fresh perspective, something that could cut through all the noise in my head.

Then, one afternoon, I was scrolling through some random forums, just kinda procrastinating, and I stumbled upon a thread talking about using tarot for career guidance. My first thought? “Tarot? Seriously? Isn’t that like, fortune-telling and spooky stuff with crystal balls?” I mean, I’d always seen it as something a bit mystical, not exactly a boardroom tool. But then I saw some people talking about it as a tool for self-reflection, for tapping into your own intuition, and that got me thinking. My logical brain wasn’t getting me anywhere, so maybe a different approach was what I needed.

So, I decided, why not? What did I have to lose? I figured, worst case, I’d have some pretty pictures to look at. I went online, did a little digging, and picked out a deck that kinda spoke to me. Nothing super fancy, just a standard Rider-Waite style deck, because everyone said it was a good starting point. When it arrived, I unwrapped it, shuffled the cards, and honestly, it felt a little bit silly at first. Like, what was I even doing?

My First Foray into the Cards

I started super simple. Didn’t dive into complex spreads or anything. My first experiment was just a basic three-card spread for “Past, Present, Future” regarding my current job. I shuffled them really well, focused on my question – “What’s truly going on with my career right now?” – and drew three cards. I laid them out, and man, it was kinda wild. The cards weren’t telling me to quit or get a promotion, but they were reflecting back feelings and situations I already knew deep down but hadn’t fully acknowledged. It was like looking in a mirror and finally seeing what had been right in front of me all along.

After that, I got a bit more serious. I didn’t become a master reader overnight, not by a long shot. I watched some YouTube videos, read a few simple guides on interpreting cards, but mostly, I just practiced. I learned to trust my gut feeling about what the cards were trying to tell me, rather than just memorizing meanings from a book. I started asking really specific questions. Things like: “What’s holding me back from moving forward in my current role?” or “What energy should I focus on if I want to explore a new field?”

  • I’d shuffle the deck, really focusing on my question.
  • I’d pick the cards intuitively, not overthinking it.
  • Then I’d lay them out in a simple spread, often just a basic three-card one, or maybe a four-card spread for decisions – “Option A benefits, Option A challenges, Option B benefits, Option B challenges.”
  • I’d look at the images, the colors, the symbols, and let my mind wander, connecting them to my real-life situation.

It wasn’t about the cards giving me definitive answers like “Go apply for X job!” but more like they opened up new pathways in my thinking. Sometimes a card would show up that I really didn’t like, and my first reaction would be to dismiss it. But then I’d sit with it, and eventually, I’d realize it was highlighting an uncomfortable truth I’d been avoiding. Like, maybe I was indeed burnt out, or I was holding onto a resentment that was silently poisoning my outlook.

Finding My Way Forward

One particular reading really sticks out. I was grappling with whether to stay in my stable, but unfulfilling job, or take a leap towards something completely new, something I’d only dreamed about. I did a specific spread for “Decision Clarity.” The cards for staying put felt heavy, showing stagnation and a sense of obligation. But the cards for taking the leap, while challenging, showed growth, new beginnings, and a sense of personal power. It wasn’t a magic spell telling me what to do, but it strongly resonated with that whisper in my gut I’d been ignoring for months.

After that reading, I didn’t immediately hand in my notice. No, it wasn’t that instant. But it gave me the courage to really start exploring that alternative path. I began taking online courses after work, networking with people in that new field, and slowly but surely, I built up the confidence and the skills I needed. It clarified for me that my desire for change wasn’t just a fleeting wish, but a genuine need for personal and professional growth.

Eventually, I did make the jump. And you know what? It was tough, full of unknowns, but I felt so much more aligned with what I was doing. That clarity, that initial nudge from the tarot, was what I needed to get the ball rolling. It wasn’t magic, it was just a really powerful way to access my own inner wisdom, to see things from a different angle when all my usual tricks weren’t working.

So, if you’re out there feeling a bit lost, or like you need a different lens to view your career path, don’t knock workplace tarot until you’ve tried it. It might just surprise you how much insight you can unlock when you connect with yourself in a new way. It helped me big time, and honestly, my mornings are a lot less autopilot these days.
