Woke up around 7 AM, brewed some awful coffee – tasted like burnt dirt honestly. Scrolled through my usual astrology junk while waiting for the caffeine kick. Saw this headline screaming “Your Daily Love Horoscope Aquarius and Virgo: Key Advice for Couples Today”. Honestly, rolled my eyes so hard I saw my own brain. Thought, “Whatever, another vague horoscope.” But since I’m dating a Virgo and I’m Aquarius… figured I’d humor it. For “science,” obviously. Grabbed my crusty notebook from 2018 – seriously, pages were falling out.
Reading & Planning the “Experiment”
Cracked open the horoscope article while ignoring coffee stains on my pajamas. Paraphrasing brutally here:

- Virgo Focus: Went on about “softening critiques” and “appreciating quirks.” Translation for my Virgo partner: Stop pointing out how I load the dishwasher “wrong.”
- Joint Advice: Blah blah “structured quality time” and “discuss practical shared goals.” Basically, do something together without our phones glued to our hands.
Wrote this mess down in my notebook: “AQ: Talk feelings. VIRGO: Don’t nitpick. BOTH: Do adulting together.” Sounded like a boring to-do list, but okay. Decided I’d try these pointers all day with Mark (the Virgo boyfriend). Told myself I’d track reactions like observing weird zoo animals.

Attempt #1 (Morning Coffee Disaster): Mark made his “perfect” coffee – grounds measured to the milligram. He instantly opened his mouth, probably to critique my chaotic pouring method. Sounded painful for him. I attempted the “express feelings openly” part: “This tastes like sadness.” He just sighed. Points for trying?
Attempt #2 (Forced Adulting Time): After work, I ambushed him before he could dive into spreadsheets. “Hey! Horoscope says we need ‘structured quality time.’ Let’s discuss bills!” He stared. “Right now? Seriously?” I waved the notebook like evidence. Sat him down. We awkwardly reviewed phone bills and that weird water bill spike. Actually found an error! Saved like $20. Mark, being Virgo, meticulously documented it. Felt oddly productive. Horoscope might be onto something with the “practical goals” bit. Who knew?

But the joint task thing? Useful.” He paused. “And you talking instead of mentally building rockets? Shocking. Keep that up.” Later, I scribbled in my dying notebook: “Horoscope mostly corny, BUT making Virgos bite their tongue = priceless. Talking helps. Adulting together sucks less when you find $$.
